Festival of the seaside neighbourhood of Playa de San Marcos (Icod) in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, 13-25 July, with a maritime procession.
The Fiestas de Playa de San Marcos, in Icod de los Vinos, honour the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of sailors, in this coastal neighbourhood and its fishing port. From 13 to 25 July the programme blends seafaring tradition, folklore and village atmosphere, with its main day on Sunday 19 July: Holy Mass, land procession and the moving maritime procession to the port, with a fireworks display at nightfall.
Day-by-day programme:
13-14 Jul: street and square decorations (enrame).
14-15 Jul, 18:00: Ludo tournament.
16 Jul: 07:00 bell-ringing; 20:00 Folk Festival (Aya Dirma de Daute, Parranda El Medio Litro).
17 Jul: 18:00 ludo final; 21:30 Noche Joven with live music (DJ Andee, Stereogroove).
18 Jul (Children's Day): 09:30 display by Icod's fire brigade, entertainment, water castles and foam party; 22:00 Victoria Escudero and dance with the Orquesta Los Volcanicos.
19 Jul (main day): 11:00 singles vs married match; 18:30 Holy Mass in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, land and maritime procession to the port, with fireworks at the end.
20 Jul, 20:00: Fin de Fiesta and the traditional Pelana (Grupo Generacion Zero, DJ Carlos).
25 Jul, 17:00: Mass for the deceased of the neighbourhood.
