Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre Festivities 2026 in Gallegosverified
A week of festivities in Gallegos, in northern La Palma: tournaments, a guided walk, a twinning ceremony, mass with procession and dances into the small hours.
Gallegos, in Barlovento, celebrates the festivities in honour of the Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre from 17 to 23 August. It is a long, thoroughly village-scale week: tournaments at the Casa de la Cultura, shared meals and music every night.
The main day is Saturday 22, with bells at noon, mass at half past seven in the evening and then the procession through the usual streets, accompanied by Barlovento's municipal band "Tabladitos".
Two activities need booking in advance: Tuesday's guided walk in El Paso, led by the director of the Benahoarita Archaeological Museum, and Wednesday's breakfast devoted to local produce.
On Thursday there is also a twinning ceremony between the Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre of Gallegos and her namesake in the Los Quemados neighbourhood of Fuencaliente.

Friday 21, 18:00: darts tournament; 21:30: Fiesta Latina with Grupo Bienmesabe; 23:00: Ilusión Gomera. Saturday 22, 12:00: bell ringing; 19:30: mass preached by Rubén Gallego del Pozo with the Nuevas Voces choir, followed by a procession with Barlovento's municipal band "Tabladitos"; 21:30: comedian Laureano Marquez; 22:30: dance with Grupo Libertad; 00:30: Latin Sound; 02:30: DJ Gero. Sunday 23, 14:00: community lunch with music by Lupi; 17:00: family bingo; 19:30: closing toast.
