The Fiesta del Charco is the most distinctive celebration of La Aldea de San Nicolás, in western Gran Canaria, declared of National Tourist Interest. Its main day is 11 September 2026: in the afternoon, thousands of people plunge into the La Marciega lagoon for the mass fishing of grey mullet, a practice echoing an ancient rite of the early Canarians.
The main act is set within three days of festivities, with the Bajada de la Rama on 9 September and the Romería on the 10th. Admission is free.
