Festival NOON Canarias 2026: Cuarteto Improntuverified
Cuarteto Improntu plays San Sebastián de La Gomera as part of Festival NOON Canarias, a series that puts live music on at midday in places with a character of their own, spread across several islands. The Gomeran venue is the Patio Canario of the Centro Cultural Iballa de la Tercera Edad, an open courtyard in the middle of town. Entry is free until the space fills up, so it is worth arriving before noon.
Festival NOON Canarias brings together mostly Canarian ensembles and takes them to places that already say something on their own: castles, lighthouses, cultural centres and traditional courtyards. The format is the unusual part and it suits the islands, a concert at midday, with the afternoon still ahead and none of the formality of a concert hall. Vector de Ideas runs it, with Promotur Islas Canarias as main sponsor and backing from the Canary Islands government's culture and heritage department, the councils of Arrecife and San Sebastián de La Gomera, Fundación Tenerife Rural of the Cabildo de Tenerife and FEDAC of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.
On La Gomera every date of the series happens in the same place, the Patio Canario of the Centro Cultural Iballa de la Tercera Edad on Calle Virgen de Guadalupe in San Sebastián. This September slot belongs to Cuarteto Improntu. The courtyard is open to the sky and the music starts at noon, so a hat and a bottle of water make the hour easier. Nothing is booked in advance: entry is free until the courtyard is full, which makes the time you show up the only thing that really decides whether you get in. The cultural centre sits a few minutes on foot from the harbour and the old town, and the rest of the day stays open for the island.
