Exhuming Memory
Performative lecture by the Chilean artist Francisco Medina Donoso in La Salita of the Auditorio de Tenerife. The project sets out an artistic and archaeological investigation into the search for fragments of the La Moneda government building, bombed on 11 September 1973 in Santiago de Chile. The Auditorio de Tenerife programmes in La Salita the performative lecture Exhumar la memoria, a project by the Chilean transdisciplinary artist and researcher Francisco Medina Donoso. The event sets out the artistic and archaeological investigation around the fragments of the La Moneda government building, bombed on 11 September 1973 in Santiago de Chile during the military coup that overthrew President Salvador Allende and installed the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.
Following the trail of an oral account, the team carried out excavations in March 2023 using archaeological methods, led by the archaeologist Flora Vilches. In the words of its creator, the piece seeks to recover and offer back to the community a founding fragment of recent memory. It lasts 55 minutes and is recommended for ages 18 and over.
