The Encuentros con el Patrimonio series, promoted by the Servicio de Patrimonio Cultural, devotes this session to a colloquium on the architectural legacy of Betancuria, presented under the title Huellas de una memoria protegida. The authors of the Catálogo Patrimonial de Betancuria approach the traditional architecture of the municipality through the work carried out to compile that instrument of protection and knowledge, and set out the keys to the historical, architectural and ethnographic value of its built heritage, from building types and construction techniques to materials and adaptation to the surroundings.
The session looks at why identifying, documenting and protecting this legacy matters, since it forms an essential part of the identity of Betancuria and of the collective memory of Fuerteventura. The colloquium takes place at the Museo Arqueológico de Fuerteventura in Betancuria on Wednesday 16 September 2026 at 19:00, with free admission.
