Encuentro folclórico Nanino Díaz Cutillasverified

Concerts · 0 €

Isas, folías and malagueñas, timples, chácaras, drums and guitars: Canarian folk music fills the church square of Mancha Blanca, in Tinajo, once again. The gathering brings together the leading folk groups of Lanzarote and of the rest of the archipelago, and is organised by the Cabildo de Lanzarote with the town council of Tinajo. It starts on the Friday evening at 21:00 and admission is open and free.

The gathering is named after the Gran Canarian broadcaster Fernando Nanino Díaz Cutillas, who created the television programme Tenderete, and it is one of the oldest and most respected traditional events in the Canaries. The most important folk groups of Lanzarote and of the wider archipelago take turns on the square with isas, folías and malagueñas, played on timples, chácaras, drums and guitars, and dressed in the skirts, hats, sashes and ribbons that go with them. The Cabildo de Lanzarote organises the evening with the town council of Tinajo.

The setting is the church square of Mancha Blanca, next to the chapel of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores in the municipality of Tinajo, and the date falls around the Los Dolores festivities, the high point of the traditional calendar on Lanzarote. The same village hosts the Feria de Artesanía de Lanzarote from 10 to 15 September, so expect more people than usual and allow time to park. The music begins at 21:00 and admission is open and free.
