El Sonajero de Polichinela - Festival VanBonnverified
Opera and comedy meet in El Sonajero de Polichinela, a contemporary take on Italian commedia dell'arte at the VanBonn Festival. Its characters, masks and gestures build a comedy of intrigue between masters and servants for the whole family, with six actor-singers and three instrumentalists. El Sonajero de Polichinela revives the world of commedia dell'arte, its characters, masks and gestures, to build an entertaining comedy of intrigue between masters and servants, designed for the whole family. Text and direction are by José Carlos Campos, with musical direction by Manuel Gómez Ruiz.
Six actor-singers and three instrumentalists (violin, harpsichord and viola da gamba) perform arias, recitatives, duets and madrigals by composers such as Claudio Monteverdi, Francesca Caccini, Barbara Strozzi and Adriano Banchieri. The show lasts 65 minutes. The performance takes place in the Sala de Cámara of the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on Saturday 17 October 2026 at 12:00.
