Eclipse parcial de Sol - Atalaya Cósmica en Tejedaverified

Culture · Gratis

Observation point (Museo Elder's Atalaya Cósmica) for the partial solar eclipse of 12 August 2026 in Tejeda (Gran Canaria). Free and open.

On 12 August 2026 the Canary Islands will see a partial solar eclipse: the Moon will cover around 70% of the Sun's disc. In Tejeda (Gran Canaria), the Museo Elder science museum, together with the IAC, sets up one of the archipelago's ten Cosmic Watchtowers (Atalayas Cósmicas): a free, open observation point with solar telescopes, certified glasses and trained staff.

The eclipse begins at about 18:56, peaks around 19:52 and ends near 20:43 (Canary time), with the Sun already low in the western sky, so pick a spot with a clear view to the west. Important: never look at the Sun without certified glasses (ISO 12312-2 standard). The exact spot within the municipality and participation details are confirmed by the Museo Elder in the days beforehand.
