Feast day of San Miguel Arcángel: mass with the bishop and processionverified

29 September is the main day of the fiestas: the solemnity of San Miguel Arcángel, patron saint of Tazacorte and of the island of La Palma. The day starts before dawn, at 06:30, with the parade of giants and big-heads and hot chocolate in the town hall forecourt. The midday mass is presided over by Bishop Eloy Alberto Santiago Santiago, with the Nuestra Señora de El Pino choir from El Paso.

The midday mass is presided over by Bishop Eloy Alberto Santiago Santiago, with the Nuestra Señora de El Pino choir from El Paso. In the evening, at 19:30, mass is offered for the villagers who live away and the image is carried in procession, accompanied by the municipal band. On reaching the parish church the Amigos del Valle choir sings the hymn to San Miguel, and the day closes with fireworks. This is when the town fills up, as many emigrants come home for the day. The day also opens the octave in honour of San Miguel Arcángel, celebrated in the parish church until 6 October. 06:30 traditional dawn parade with giants and big-heads from the town hall, accompanied by the municipal band, followed by hot chocolate in the forecourt. 12:00 solemn mass in honour of San Miguel Arcángel, presided over by Bishop Eloy Alberto Santiago Santiago, with the Nuestra Señora de El Pino choir from El Paso. 19:30 mass offered for the villagers living away, followed by the procession of the image through the streets accompanied by the municipal band conducted by Alberto Camacho Amaro; on arrival at the parish church, the Amigos del Valle choir sings the hymn to San Miguel Arcángel with soloists Inma Leal (soprano), Javier Rodríguez Lorenzo (baritone) and Giovanni Acosta (tenor). Fireworks close the day.
