Día grande de Chipude: misa, procesión y encuentro de chácaras y tamboresverified
Chipude's big day. At 10:30 the square fills with chácara players, drummers and romanceadores from across La Gomera. At 12:00 the mass in honour of the Virgen de Candelaria is held and the procession sets out, but first, with the image still inside, the village's own players sing her an isa, the way it used to be done.
Saturday the 15th is the big day of the Chipude fiestas.
Morning. From 08:00, a set by soloist Mario Castro. From 10:30, a large gathering of chácara players, drummers and romanceadores in Chipude square, where musicians and bearers of the island's culture come together.
12:00, mass in honour of the Virgen de Candelaria, followed by the procession through the village streets, accompanied by chácaras and drums. Before the image comes out, the village's own players sing her an isa, as was done in the old days.
Afternoon, Aires de Canarias. From 15:00 to 19:00, Chácaras y Tambores Lasaoy, the Ghomara folk group, Magec and Parranda Chasnera. From 19:00 to 20:15, a large parranda gathering open to village players and visitors alike.
Evening. From 20:20 to 21:40, nineties music with Ni 1 Pelo de Tonto. From 21:50, the grand night dance with Edwin Rivera y su orquesta, Grupo Acorde, Juan Antonio Rodríguez 'El Charro', Grupo Caribe and Orquesta Atlantic.
