Day of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación: mass, procession and fireworksverified
The patron saint's day in La Victoria de Acentejo: a parade of giants and big-heads in the afternoon, a procession to El Calvario Viejo at dusk and a fireworks display to close.
30 August is the big day in La Victoria de Acentejo. The mass in honour of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación is at 11:00, and in the afternoon the town changes gear.
At 15:00 the traditional parade of giants and big-heads sets off from the Centro Cultural de Los Arroyos. At 18:00 and 19:00 there is children's programming in the Parque El Pinar, with the environmental space "Los Guardianes del Planeta" and the show "A Taste of Vadeuville" by the Thelmo Parole company.
At 19:00 the solemn religious service begins, sung by the parish choir. The procession of the venerated image then leaves the parish church for El Calvario Viejo and back, accompanied by church representatives, the municipal corporation, the Reina, the Míster, the Romera Mayor and her court of honour, the Agrupación Musical La Victoria and the congregation. On arrival the Ave María is sung by Patricia Gutiérrez, and the fireworks display follows.
The night ends with an open-air club night, from midnight until three, on the ground beside the Terrero Municipal de Luchas.
