Día de las Tradiciones en Chipude: El Mentidero, juego del palo y baile de nocheverified
The day the Chipude fiestas give over to the old ways: traditional games, the re-enactment of El Mentidero, live radio from the square, a display of Gomeran juego del palo and Canarian wrestling, and dancing into the small hours. In between, the Chipuraíces strand presented by Nayara Medina.
Wednesday the 12th is the Día de las Tradiciones in Chipude, part of the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria fiestas.
Morning. From 10:30 to 13:30, El Mentidero, organised by AHÓ Patrimonio e Identidad with the ICDC: traditional games at 10:30, the re-enactment and recording of El Mentidero at 11:30, and traditional music at 12:30. From 11:00 there is live radio with Radio Vallehermoso.
Afternoon and evening, within Chipuraíces, presented by Nayara Medina. From 18:00 to 20:00, the first Encuentro de Juego del Palo de La Gomera and a Canarian wrestling display. From 20:15 to 21:00, Los Arcoiris de Hollywood by the PLUMA association, a run through Hollywood films and diversity. From 21:15 to 22:15, Grupo Chijeré.
Night dance from 22:30, with Parranda Los Satélites, Ricardo Jiménez y amigos, Tomás Duque and Wamampy.
The day actually begins earlier, at 8:30, with the Ruta del Reencuentro, the guided walk down from La Laguna Grande, listed separately because it needs booking.
