Día de las Marías: patronal feast of the Villa Mariana de Terorverified
Teror has its own patronal feast five days after the whole island's: the Día de las Marías, with a verbena from midday, a procession at dusk and fireworks.
The fiesta of 8 September belongs to the whole of Gran Canaria. The one on the 13th belongs to Teror. The Día de las Marías is the patronal feast of the Villa Mariana, and it has a different tone: less of a crowd, more of a village.
There are masses from 8:00 and at 13:00 the solemn mass is celebrated. At midday the Verbena del Solajero begins, with Los Merengues de los 80-90 at 12:00, Las Ladys at 14:00 and Star Music at 16:00.
In the afternoon the religious side returns: rosary and novena prayers at 18:30, the solemn mass of the Marías at 19:00 and, at 20:00, the procession of the Marías through the old town accompanied by the Banda de Teror. Fireworks close the day at 20:30.
For anyone who would rather not face the crowds of the 8th, this is the alternative: the same basilica, the same band, and room to watch the procession.
