Día de Enrame: engalanar Chipude para sus fiestasverified
The Chipude fiestas open with the enrame: the whole village gathers at 8:30 to dress not just the square but every neighbourhood with bunting and banners. Afterwards there is a gathering of chácaras and drums, then an open parranda for anyone who wants to play or sing.
Tuesday 11 August is when the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria fiestas begin in Chipude, and they begin with the Día de Enrame.
From 8:30, the committee invites the whole village to gather and dress the square, and the different neighbourhoods too, with bunting and banners. The wording of the call is plain: come to share, to help and to celebrate.
Once the decorating is done there is a gathering of chácaras and drums, and then the day carries on with an open parranda for any player or singer who wants to join in.
It is the least touristy and most village-like day of the whole programme, and for that reason the easiest one to experience from the inside, if you turn up with no greater ambition than to lend a hand.
