Artistic float parade, caballos fufos and the great San Miguel dance nightverified

The eve of the main feast day is the longest night of the San Miguel Arcángel fiestas. It begins at 20:00 with the parade of artistic floats, continues at 21:30 with the caballos fufos and ends with the great open-air dance, which starts at 23:00 and runs into the small hours.

The floats are built over weeks: the children's one is designed by Ana Portocarrero, and the youth and queen's floats by Juan Manuel Ortega. The caballos fufos, those cardboard-and-cloth horses worn at the waist, parade accompanied by the municipal band. It is organised by the Asociación Caballos Fufos, with the support of the Cabildo of La Palma and the town council. Everything takes place on the street and is free to attend. The next morning at 06:30 the diana with giants and big-heads sets off, so anyone still standing can go straight from one to the other. 20:00 traditional parade of artistic floats from the town hall to Avenida de la Constitución, with the children's float (designed by Ana Portocarrero), the youth float and the queen's float (both by Juan Manuel Ortega). 21:30 caballos fufos parade to the tune of Vuela Vuela Palomita along the same route, accompanied by the Tazacorte municipal band conducted by Alberto Camacho Amaro. 23:00 great open-air dance on Calle Primero de Mayo, with Escuela de Calor, Grupo Saoco and Los Tres de Caña.
