Commemoration of the Batalla Naval and transfer of the Symbolic Flame with the RAA 94 in La Isletaverified
In the gardens of Castillo de La Luz in La Isleta, the Batalla Naval is commemorated and Santiago Calleja Blancas, colonel in command of the Regimiento de Artillería Antiaérea n.º 94, is named Alcaide, or warden, of the castle. At 18:30 the regiment carries the Symbolic Flame from the old parish boundary at Viejo Campo España to the mother parish church. It all happens on Saturday 10 October 2026, the main day of the Fiestas de La Naval.
The main day of the Antiguas y Tradicionales Fiestas de La Naval, held in honour of Nuestra Señora La Virgen de La Luz, includes two acts led by the Regimiento de Artillería Antiaérea n.º 94, an anti-aircraft artillery regiment. In the gardens of Castillo de La Luz the Batalla Naval is commemorated and the regiment’s commanding colonel, Santiago Calleja Blancas, is named Alcaide of the castle. The regiment then carries the Symbolic Flame from the old parish boundary at Viejo Campo España to the mother parish church.
The commemoration starts on Saturday 10 October 2026 at 18:00 in the gardens of Castillo de La Luz in La Isleta, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the flame sets off at 18:30. The procession of Nuestra Señora de La Luz follows at 20:00.
