La Naval Night Dip (Chapuzón Nocturno) at Las Canteras with the murga Los Melindrosos and the papahuevosverified
The Chapuzón Nocturno, the night dip of the Fiestas de La Naval, begins on Friday 9 October at 21:00 in the Plaza de María Mérida by Las Canteras beach, with a street parade by the Chinese Community Group along the promenade and verses from the murga Los Melindrosos. After the mayor fires the rocket comes the traditional cry «¡Chapuzoneros, al agua!». Earlier, at 20:30, the papahuevos set off with the Banda Archipiélago.
The Chapuzón Nocturno is one of Friday night's events at the Antiguas y Tradicionales Fiestas de La Naval, held in honour of Nuestra Señora La Virgen de La Luz. The Chinese Community Group parades along the Las Canteras promenade, and the murga Los Melindrosos recreates a night of the dip with short verses dedicated to various characters. After the mayor fires the rocket, the traditional cry rings out: «¡Chapuzoneros, al agua!». Half an hour earlier, the papahuevos leave the Plaza de Nuestra Señora de La Luz with the Banda Archipiélago, announcing the La Naval 2026 dip.
