Tijarafe wine tastings: 30th Vino de Tea tasting and 12th wine tastingverified
Two tastings back to back on the square in Tijarafe: first vino de tea, a wine aged in Canary pine wood made only on La Palma, and then rosés, reds and whites from the district.
Vino de tea is the most distinctive wine in the Canaries and is made almost exclusively in the north of La Palma. "Tea" is the resinous heartwood of the Canary pine, and the wine is aged in barrels made from it: the result has a resinous, almost forest-like aroma unlike any other Spanish wine. It is one of those things that is hard to picture from a description and obvious after one mouthful.
Tijarafe gives it a tasting of its own, now in its thirtieth edition. It starts at 18:00. At 19:00 the 12th wine tasting follows, with rosés, reds and whites from the district, in the Plaza de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria.
