Bajada de la Rama in Sardina: the great red tideverified
The Bajada de la Rama of Sardina sets off on Saturday 26 September at 18:00 and is the mass event of the fiestas in honour of San Pedro González Telmo and Nuestra Señora del Carmen. The programme itself calls it the great red tide, after the colour of the clothes worn by those taking part. The route starts at Granadilla de Abona, crosses the district and ends at the beach of Puerto de Sardina.
From 1 September to 3 October, Sardina del Norte in Gáldar, on the north coast of Gran Canaria, celebrates its fiestas in honour of San Pedro González Telmo and Nuestra Señora del Carmen, organised by the Asociación de Vecinos San Pedro González Telmo and the Comisión de Fiestas with the Ayuntamiento de Gáldar. The Bajada de la Rama draws the biggest crowd of the whole programme.
The march starts at 18:00 at Granadilla de Abona and continues along Severo Ochoa, Pío X, Calderón de la Barca, Jiménez Díaz, the Carretera de Sardina, Avenida Alcalde Antonio Rosas, Salvador Dalí, Américo Vespucio, Avenida Alcalde Antonio Rosas again, Daoiz y Velarde, El Barrio de Sardina, Alcalá Galiano, the Iglesia de San Telmo and José Verdi, ending at the beach of Puerto de Sardina. At night the party carries on along Avenida Antonio Rosas with live acts, a dj set and fireworks.
