Arte, moda y performatividad: La moda. La obra totalverified
The second session of the lecture series on art and fashion that the Centro de Arte La Regenta shares with the Centro de Arte Juan Ismael in Puerto del Rosario. Arianna Giorgi, a lecturer at Rey Juan Carlos University, starts from the relationship between art and the body to look at dresses and accessories as constructions that change the silhouette, movement and the way a person occupies space.
The Centro de Arte La Regenta, the Canary Islands Government's space for contemporary art production, is running a series of four lectures between September and December on the links between art, fashion and performance, with each session held at the Centro de Arte Juan Ismael in Puerto del Rosario and the following day at La Regenta in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This second session, titled La moda como obra total, is given by Arianna Giorgi, a lecturer at Rey Juan Carlos University. Her talk looks at fashion beyond appearances: dresses and accessories stop being mere objects and become forms in dialogue with the wearer, transforming their silhouette, movement and gestures, from the almost sculptural detail to the complete creation.
The lecture explores clothing's double link with art, as an independent aesthetic creation and as an experience that only makes sense on the body, and goes as far as the catwalk, where, in the organisers' words, the intangible becomes visible. In Fuerteventura admission is free of charge and no prior registration is needed. The lecture takes place on Wednesday 21 October 2026 at 19:00 at the Centro de Arte Juan Ismael, on Calle Almirante Lallemand in Puerto del Rosario.
