The chapel of the Virgen Chica opens to visitorsverified

Festivals & Pilgrimages

Over the weekend the chapel stays open for the veneration of the image, and it is the only act of the Fiesta Chica that does not depend on a fixed hour. On Saturday it opens at 10:00 and stays open until 21:00; on Sunday it opens again at 10:00 and closes when the religious acts end. It is the quietest way to approach the festivity, away from the noise of the square.

The Fiesta Chica of Puerto de Santiago is held in honour of the Virgen Chica, known locally as Queen of the seas and of the people of Santiago. It is the smaller festivity in the seafaring calendar of Santiago del Teide, organised by the Comisión de Fiestas together with the village, and it is concentrated in the first weekend of September. Its axis is the public square and the fishing quay.

Saturday 5 September, 10:00 to 21:00: the chapel opens for the veneration of Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Sunday 6, from 10:00: the chapel of Nuestra Virgen Chica opens and remains so until the religious acts of the evening have ended.
