37ª Feria Insular de Artesanía de La Palmaverified
Five days of craft at the port precinct of Tazacorte: 48 trades with live demonstrations, close to twenty food producers, more than a dozen free workshops and a different island municipality featured each day. Free shuttle bus.
From Wednesday 12 to Sunday 16 August at the port precinct of Villa y Puerto de Tazacorte. Organised by the Cabildo de La Palma through its Crafts Department.
Craftspeople from 48 trades take part, alongside close to twenty food businesses: cheeses, wines, honeys, craft beers, ice creams and liqueurs. The draw every year is the live demonstrations, watching a piece being made in front of you and being able to ask the maker how it is done. This edition also features INDISPAL, the Palmera platform for integrated disability support, presenting its work in inclusive craft.
The workshops are free, more than a dozen of them, aimed mainly at children and families, and run on all five days between 11:30 and 20:00. Among the disciplines: materials recycling, dressmaking, macramé, leatherwork, Canarian folk dance, making cane whistles, felting with wool, palm basketry, doll-making and clay.
Each day is dedicated to one island municipality, with tastings of its typical products and music and folk performances. Tazacorte opens on Wednesday 12 as host, and across the five days Garafía, Puntallana, Fuencaliente, Los Llanos de Aridane, San Andrés y Sauces, Villa de Mazo, Tijarafe, Puntagorda, Breña Alta, Breña Baja, El Paso, Santa Cruz de La Palma and Barlovento all take their turn.
To avoid fighting for a parking space: throughout the fair the Cabildo runs a free, continuous shuttle bus from the roundabout at the old health centre in Tazacorte down to the site.
