1st «Oficios y Sabores» Food and Crafts Fair in Garachicoverified
On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October, the Plaza de la Libertad in Garachico hosts the 1st «Oficios y Sabores» Food and Crafts Fair, with traditional Canarian crafts and local food. It is open from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00, with free master classes and workshops that require advance registration.
On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October, the Plaza de la Libertad in Garachico hosts the 1st «Oficios y Sabores» Food and Crafts Fair, organised by the island's crafts company (Artenerife), Garachico Town Council and the Cabildo de Tenerife. The exhibitors are traditional Canarian craftspeople and local food producers, and the fair is open on both days from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00.
There are two master classes with free entry until full, no registration needed: on Saturday from 11:00 to 12:00, making percussion instruments with Nayra Pérez Reyes, and on Sunday from 11:00 to 12:00, basket weaving with chestnut, cane and wicker with Marcelino Reyes González. In the afternoon, from 16:30 to 18:30, there are two workshops for adults over 18 with limited places: on Saturday, paper patterns for traditional Canarian dress with Mª Candelaria Acosta and Francisca Afonso, and on Sunday, braiding palm-leaf strips (empleitas) with Antonio Rodríguez Ruiz. Registration for the workshops opens on the Artenerife website on 28 September at 8:00.
