Teide National Park: Tenerife's volcanic wonderland

Teide National Park is one of Spain's most impressive natural treasures, located on the largest island of the Canary Islands, Tenerife. Entry and permits

  • Entrance to the national park is free of charge.

  • A special permit is required to climb to the summit of Teide, which must be requested in advance.

  • As of 29 November 2024, new rules have been implemented for certain hiking trails that require registration and mandatory equipment.

Use of the cable car

  • Tickets for the Teide cable car must be booked in advance.

  • Tickets can be purchased on the site official website.

  • You don't need a special permit to ride the cable car, just to get to the top.

What should we take into account?

Climate and equipment

  • Due to the high mountain environment, significant temperature fluctuations are to be expected.

  • It is essential to carry adequate hiking gear, warm clothing and sufficient water.

Health considerations

  • People with heart problems, pregnant women and children under 3 years of age are not allowed to use the cable car due to health risks.

Environmental protection

  • It is forbidden to litter, pick up plants or stones, feed the animals and leave the marked trails.

  • Four main roads lead to the park, connecting it to different parts of the island.
